France Excellence Eiffel scolarship

Duration of the scholarship

Master's level: 12, 24 or 36 months

• Maximum of 12 months when enrolling in the second year of a master's degree (M2)
• Maximum of 24 months when enrolling in the first year of a master's degree (M1)
• Maximum of 36 months when completing an engineering degree

Covered services:

Eiffel scholarship holders receive a monthly allowance of €1,200, in addition to which several benefits are covered directly:

• Outward travel expenses
• Final return travel expenses
• Supplementary health insurance (mutual insurance)

Age:

Candidates must be no older than 29 at the time of selection, i.e. born after 31 March 1996.

Nationality:

Programme reserved for foreign nationals: dual nationals whose nationality includes French are ineligible.

Geographical location:

Candidates currently studying in France are ineligible.

Application history:

Applications from students whose applications were not accepted during a previous selection process will not be accepted, even if the application is submitted by a different institution or in a different field of study. Applications from students who have already received an Eiffel scholarship at the master's level will not be accepted for the same level.

Any international student wishing to apply for a scholarship must follow the procedure below:

1. Read the France Excellence Eiffel information booklet from the University of Toulouse (UT) and the official Campus France regulations.

2. Consult the list of courses offered at the University of Toulouse, available on the website, and independently search for the contact details of the person in charge of the desired course.

3. Contact the head of the programme to request their support.
⮕ If they agree, they contact the international relations to request the opening of an online application file on the dedicated Campus France platform.

4. Prepare your application and complete the entirely paperless application form.

5. The DMFI validate all applications and submit them to the President of the University of Toulouse for approval before forwarding them to Campus France.

Duration of the scholarship

Doctorate's level: 12, 18 or 36 months

• 36 months, subject to enrolment in the first year of a PhD programme for new students only. Cannot result in the signing of a joint supervision agreement. Co-supervision is not mandatory.
• 12 or 18 months, for all candidates, particularly those already working on their thesis in France or abroad, under joint supervision or co-supervision:
  • Maximum 12 months for enrolment in the 2nd or 3rd year of a PhD programme
  • Maximum 18 months for enrolment in the 1st or 2nd year of a PhD programme

Covered services:

Eiffel scholarship holders receive a monthly allowance of €2,100, in addition to which several benefits are covered directly:

• Outward travel expenses
• Final return travel expenses
• Supplementary health insurance (mutual insurance)

Age:

Candidates must be aged 35 or under at the time of selection, i.e. born after 31 March 1990.

Nationality:

Programme reserved for foreign nationals: dual nationals whose nationality includes French are ineligible.

Geographical location:

Candidates currently studying in France are eligible. However, students currently studying abroad are given priority over those already residing in France.

Application history:

A candidate who has already received an Eiffel scholarship as part of their PhD programme is not eligible to apply for another Eiffel scholarship. Applications from students whose applications were not accepted during a previous selection process for this level are not eligible, even if the application is submitted by a different institution or in a different field of study. However, candidates who have already received an Eiffel scholarship at master's level (except for 36-month scholarships) may apply.

Please note that foreign students who are already receiving a French government scholarship under a programme other than the Eiffel programme at the time of application are not eligible, even if the scholarship only covers social security. 

Any international student wishing to apply for a scholarship must follow the procedure below:

1. Read the France Excellence Eiffel information booklet from the University of Toulouse (UT) and the official Campus France regulations.

2. Consult the list of Doctoral Schools and/or laboratories at the UT, available on the website, and independently search for the contact details of a scientist who could supervise your thesis.

3. Contact the potential thesis supervisor to request their support.
⮕ If they agree, they contact the international relations to request the opening of an online application file on the dedicated Campus France platform.

4. Prepare your application and complete the entirely paperless application form.

5. The DMFI validate all applications and submit them to the UT President for approval before forwarding them to Campus France.
